Washy washy is an unofficial, community-run project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced in cooperation with any washing machine or appliance manufacturer.

The bundled chart reflects one household's own washing and ironing settings — a set of choices that worked for one washer, one iron and one person's clothes. It is not a manufacturer's guarantee, a care-labelling standard, or professional advice. Loads, fabrics and machines vary, and a setting that's safe on one machine can damage another.

A garment's own care label always takes precedence over anything shown here. When the two disagree, follow the label.

As stated in the project's licence (GPL-3.0-or-later, sections 15–16): the software is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Washy washy's maintainers are not liable for any damage — to clothes, machines, or anything else — arising from its use.
